  BIIC (Bio-invasion in China ) is established by the College of Life Sciences, Beijing Normal University and the Institute of Animal and Plant Quarantine, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ). It is supported by the project "The Ecological Impact and Ecological Safety of Biological Invasion" that belongs to the "State Key Basic Research and Development Plan of China (G2000046803)". We hope that this web can promote our academic intercommunication. Please go to BBS to let us know your comments and suggestions! Thanks! Biological invasion is a global problem. As a working group on biological invasion in China, we established a database and a website for Biological Invasion in China. From our latest database, we have included 111 species of alien harmful animals, 219 species of alien harmful plants and 19 species of alien harmful microorganisms. For the public, we have only presented the first version, 54 species of alien harmful animals on the web. However, these data have already revealed the seriousness of bio-invasion in China. From the economic view, it was estimated that the damage of several alien pests had reached 57.4 billion Chinese yuan annually. The total damage due to bio-invasion is estimated to be several hundred billion yuan. More seriously, the trend of invasion is at an accelerating speed. We hope that this web can promote scientific and information exchange. However, due to the language problem, not all information is translated into English. We shall continue our efforts and hopefully that the English version can be more and more satisfying.  [2000] Database of alien harmful species is established by the BIIC workgroup. [November, 2001] BIIC Website is presented to the public. Part of the data is presented to the public. This version of BIIC is based on Windows 2000, Microsoft Visual FoxPro 6.0, JSP and IIS. Contents include News,Database,Alert Info,Literature,Software Introduction,Laws and Regulations,BBS etc. Domain name is expanded, including www.bioinvasion.org.cn and 中国生物入侵网 (Bio-invasion in China). [May, 2005] Reorganization of the BIIC Web page is accomplished. It is based on RedHat Linux 9.0, MySQL, Apache web Server. The columns are re-organized, and a new column, Popularization, is added. |
